Broadway Fixture, Foley's Garage, is For Sale
The Foley family has owned the property, which sits on a prime lot on Broadway, since 1976.
Broadway’s streetscape could be in for a big change down the road — Foley’s Garage is for sale.
Built in 1940, the property has been a Gulf gas station, Citgo gas station, the George Harrison Ford car dealership and is now Newport’s only downtown car rental agency: Foley’s Hertz Rental Car.
The Foley brothers, Bill and Mike Foley, bought the property in 1976 after leasing it for 16 years. The Hertz business began in 1965. Today, most of the space in back is rented by G&S Automotive.

In the future, the property could be a new office building, transient guest facility, boutique hotel, condo space, or another restaurant on the immediate “SoBro” area of Broadway.
“The Foley property coming on the market at this time is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for that business-minded investor looking to put his or her lasting mark on Broadway’s revitalization,” said Paul A. Leys, broker and co-owner of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty, which has the listing. “It is physically situated to be a potential ‘magnet’ property for the end-user looking to take advantage of all the positive things that are taking place within a very short distance from this address on Broadway.”
