EP Woman Turns Herself in for Alleged Assault in Newport
Police charged a woman with simple assault on Wednesday while noting that she was cooperative and honest about the incident.

NEWPORT, RI—A 20-year-old East Providence woman was arrested by Newport police on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting another woman outside her workplace in Newport on Monday.
Cassidy Ann Hollands, 20, of 429 Dover Ave., East Providence, reportedly told police during a phone call before turning herself in that she "blacked out" on adrenaline and admitted that she started the fight.
Police said the victim reported the assault on Monday at around 5:30 p.m. She said that she was at work at a restaurant in the Bowen's Wharf area when Hollands arrived and said they needed to talk.

The victim was under the impression that Hollands was there to retrieve a pair of earrings in the victim's car. As the victim walked to her car, Hollands allegedly pushed her to the ground.
The scuffle ended when a male bystander intervened and Hollands left the scene.

The victim suffered minor injuries.
Hollands reportedly said that she was very upset but noted the victim did fight back. She said she suffered some minor injuries. Officers noted that she "sounded very cooperative and honest on the phone."
Hollands later turned herself in to police and was charged with one count of simple assault. She was released and due to return to court on Sept. 14.
