Former Newport Bookkeeper Dies at 87

Margaret (Devine) Kilmer, 87, of Oak Street, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport.

She was the wife of the late Victor J. Kilmer.

Born in Woonsocket, on Feb. 15, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Theresa V. (Gilbert) Devine.

Peg began work as a bookkeeper for the former Lincoln Store on Thames Street. After raising her family in Middletown, she went back to work as a clerk in the Middletown Public Schools.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 24, with calling hours held at 8 a.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport followed by a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
