How Could Newport Solve Its Parking Problems?
Although Newport officials have considered several ideas to help solve the parking issue over the years, residents and visitors still say a parking spot can be hard to find. Do you have an idea the city should explore?

Summer is right around the corner which means beach, sun and alas...parking nightmares.
Parking was recently studied as part of a continuous improvement program, said Newport Mayor Harry Winthrop at an Alliance for Livable Newport meeting Tuesday evening.
The study found improvements could be made by signage, including where drivers could find public parking and which streets require resident permits, said Mayor Winthrop.

"A parking garage is not currently being discussed. It's not to say that it couldn't be discussed," he added.
Winthrop said a longer term solution could be to put parking in the North End and transport visitors with train or trolley.
