Man Allegedly Kicked Bin Outside Police Station

The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following information is based on reports provided by the Newport Police Department.

  • Robin Kazanjian, 48, of 1403 Warwick Ave. Apt. #233, Warwick, was arrested Sunday around 9:45 a.m on charges of simple assault. A nurse at Newport Hosptial said that Kazanjian was was acting belligerent and assaulting staff. Based on her behavior, the nurse made the decision to have Kazanjian medicated, said police.  Staff issued “silent code,” which is a request for hospital security to deal with an unruly patient. Once Kazanjian was medicated, she continued to act unruly, said police.  She was allegedly slamming staff against her body, floor and wall.

  • Tobias Lopez, 20, 335 Broadway Apt. 3, was arrested on Monday around 1:57 a.m. on charges of disorderly conduct.  Police said Lopez kicked a trash bin on the sidewalk in front of the police station, which caused it to roll into the street. Lopez appeared to be drunk, said police.
