Man Caught On Video Breaking into Cars in Newport
Do you recognize this man? He was caught on video breaking into cars on Extension Street
Last weekend several residents complained items had been stolen from cars on Extension Street and South Baptist Street.
A resident's security camera caught five minutes of footage of a man going through cars on Extension Street at approximately 12:00 a.m. last Sunday. The man check car doors and enter inside the car if unlocked. In most instances, he left the car door open and moved to the next vehicle. A resident reported she closed at least four car doors when she walked up Extension Street at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
When a car drove down the street, the man ran down to Thames Street. Attached is a short clip of the footage.

Newport police said their has been an increase of reported car break-ins and encourage residents to call the Newport Police Department at (401) 847-1306 with any information.
