Newport Arrests: Arson, Vandalism and Assault

The following incidents were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  • Newport police arrested a 17-year-old Newport man on Sunday night on a felony arson charge and resisting arrest. Police said they saw a small fire in Miantonomi Park around 10:30 at night.  When they arrived, police said the teenager fled towards the woods. Newport Fire Department responded to put out the fire.

  • Issac Boney, 42, of 90 Girard Ave, was arrested on Sunday around 3:50 a.m. on domestic vandalism charge at Motel 6.  He allegedly knocked over and broke large glass and metal coffee table during an argument with his girlfriend.

  • Charles Parker, 25, of 414 Waterman Ave, East Providence was arrested on Sunday around 11:00 p.m. for violation of a no contact order and two bench warrants. 

  • Everett Franklin, 40, of 17 Bournhurst, Plymouth, Mass., was arrested on Saturday around 11:00 p.m. on a simple assault charge at the Newport Grand Casino.
