Newport Police: Sex Offender Arrested

The Newport Police Department reported the following arrests for Tuesday, April 16:

• Stephen Ledwell, 54, of 27 S. West Dr., Harwich MA, was arrested around 2:20 p.m. for failing to register as a sex offender, which is a felony. Ledwell was convicted of assault with intent to rape in 1997, according to Massachusetts state records. Police said he had been living at the Motel 6 in Newport. 
  
  
• Adam Finn, 39, of 188 Indian Trail, Narragansett, was arrested around 10:24 a.m. on an arrest warrant out of Narragansett Police Department for an original felony possession of marijuna charge.
  
  
• Michellay Smith, 23, of 231 Maple Ave., was arrested around 7:50 p.m. on a bench warrant charge.
