Newport Man Charged for Bogus 911 Call
Police said the 33-year-old has called 911 before, including in July when he said a man had a knife but it was untrue, say police.

NEWPORT, RI—A 33-year-old Newport man was charged with providing false information to 911 early Monday morning after he allegedly called the service unnecessarily. And police said he's a repeat offender.
Police said Rolando Jimenez, 33, of 312 Broadway, has called 911 for false reasons before in July, including one instance on July 29 during which he “made several claims including a man having a knife which were untrue,” according to a police report.
This time, police said they got a call at around 1:20 a.m. and officers were dispatched to Jimenez’s address.

He wasn’t there but officers later found him walking alone on Broadway. He reportedly said he called 911 but his phone died. He then said he called “because I’m crazy” several times.
Police said Jimenez appeared intoxicated and was arrested and held overnight for arraignment Monday in Second Division District Court where he pleaded innocent and was released on personal recognizance.
