Newport Nonprofits Receive Donations From Gift Card Fundraiser
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and Aquidneck Community Table each received approximately $8,800, along with other partners.
NEWPORT, RI — Two Newport nonprofits received donations over $8,000 from a holiday gift card fundraiser. Newport Restaurant Group raised approximately $52,000, which was distributed to six organizations in the area.
During the holiday season, the group donated $2 from every gift card sale to the drive. Each community partner received approximately $8,800, including Newport's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and Aquidneck Community Table.
The other partners included the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Hope's Harvest RI, as well as The Food Project and Brookline Food Pantry in Massachusetts.

Paul O’Reilly, Newport Restaurant Group's president and CEO, said that "fighting food insecurity is an ongoing battle."
"We are so grateful to these wonderful organizations who work tirelessly to support our neighbors," O’Reilly said. "This program would not be a success without the support of our guests, as well as the passion and dedication of our employee-owners for this cause."

Newport Restaurant Group has been holding the drive each holiday season since 2019 and has donated more than $90,000 total.
