Newport Police Take Part In 'No Shave' Fundraiser

The fundraiser will benefit seven organizations, including several within the city.

NEWPORT, RI — Newport police are once again putting away their razors for a good cause. The department is participating in "No Shave November" to raise money for a variety of good causes.

This will be the fifth year the department takes part in the fundraiser, which will run from Nov. 1 through March 1. Every officer who takes part will make a donation, and the Newport Fraternal Order of Police will do so as well.

This year's fundraiser will benefit the following organizations:

  • Police Unity Tour
  • Home Base
  • Island Youth Lacrosse
  • Newport Little League
  • The Confetti Foundation

The department has raised more than $28,000 over the past four years through donations from participants, the FOP and members of the public. This year, it hopes to raise $10,000.

New this year, member is the public can make donations directly through Venmo, to @newportfop. Anyone making a donation on behalf of a member of the department is asked to include their name in the notes field.
