Newport Woman Sentenced To 5 Years For Child Porn Charge

Karissa Cave, 25, admitted to requesting and receiving a sexually explicit photo and video depicting a toddler.

NEWPORT, RI — A Newport woman who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in 2020 will serve five years in federal prison, Rhode Island U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha's office announced Tuesday. Karissa Cave, 25, admitted to requesting and receiving a sexually explicit photo and video.

Cave was arrested in October 2019 alongside Samantha York, 31, also of Newport, who was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of distribution of child pornography.

In February 2020, Cave pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography. In court, she said that on Dec. 7, 2016, she asked for a video that depicted an adult engaged in a sex act with a toddler over Facebook messenger. After she received the video, Cave said she asked "is there anymore?" and was sent a sexually explicit photo of young girls and boys. After she received the video, Cave and the woman she was messaging sent "graphic sexual chats" about the toddler and the video, Cunha's Office said.
