October Was Unusually Warm, Rainy In Rhode Island
The NWS said it was "no shock that every climate site was warmer than average," as the region continues to see an overall warming trend.

NEWPORT, RI — November has arrived in southern New England, bringing to a close an unusually warm, wet October in Rhode Island.
While October is usually the start of crisp fall weather in Rhode Island, there were some decidedly summerlike days in the last month. The warmest was Oct. 14, when the temperature peaked at 78 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. In total, 14 days were 70 degrees or higher, five more than the usual nine.

The coldest day came 10 days later, when the high temperature was about half that of the warmest day — topping out at just 41 degrees. Normally, the Providence area sees 10 October days that are 40 degrees or cooler, but this year, there were none.
While the number of rainy days in October was about the same as the average, it rained more this year. The Providence area saw 5.56 inches of rain over the last month, more than an inch higher than the average of 4.18 inches.
