Rhode Island's Peak Wind Gusts, Rainfall During Oct. 27 Storm

NEWPORT, RI — A powerful, rare October nor'easter roared through Rhode Island starting Tuesday night, knocking down trees, wires and debris across the state.

As of Wednesday evening, more than 40,000 households were still in the dark, according to National Grid.

Block Island recorded the highest wind gust, clocking in over 80 mph early Tuesday morning. Hope Valley, meanwhile, had the highest rainfall amount at more than two inches.
