RI's Most Expensive Home for Sale is $45m Newport Estate

One of the most expensive homes for sale in the United States and the highest-priced listing in Rhode Island is nestled among 45-acres off Ocean Avenue in Newport.

Seward Oceanfront Estate, at 339 Ocean Avenue, sits at the southern point of Ocean Drive and offers vistas of the sea, the greens at Newport Country Club and a bucolic, park-like landscape jutted with slabs of rock.

MyCentralJersey.com listed the 15 most expensive homes for sale in the United States and Seward landed at No. 8.

The 7,698 square foot residence is built from indigenous stone, features six bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms and a three-bedroom guest cottage larger than most single-family homes at 3,576 square feet.

There’s an infinity pool, a mooring on Price Neck Cove, private water frontage, four-car garage, and on and on.

The house offers “open airy living” and “provides the ultimate in quality and comfort,” according to the listing description by Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty, which holds the listing.

Along with the substantial asking price, the right buyer will have some cash reserves. Estimated annual taxes land at $140,378 per year.

The house was built in 2009.
