Runners Lace Up For Newport 10-Miler This Weekend
Black ribbons will be given to all participants and volunteers to wear during the race, and a moment of silence will be held prior to the start to honor and support the victims of the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.

Runners from across the region are gearing up for the Newport 10-Miler this Sunday. Although online registration has closed, athletes still looking to participate can register on-site at Fort Adams this Saturday, 1-5 p.m. or Sunday, 6-7:45 a.m
This ten-mile road race in Newport, Rhode Island will start and finish inside the gates of Fort Adams, with a start of 8 a.m. The course will take advantage of Newport’s scenic views from Fort Adams State Park, Ocean Drive and historic Bellevue Ave.

Over 1,150 athletes have pre-registered for this inaugural race. The run/walk will benefit the Fort Adams Trust, which is charged with directing and supporting the stabilization, restoration, maintenance, and operation of Fort Adams as a historic site.
