Thunderstorms, Hail Possible Wednesday Afternoon
Wind and hail is possible during Wednesday afternoon's "likely" thunderstorms.

RHODE ISLAND—Wednesday started off peachy here in the Ocean State with sunny skies and mild temperatures, but things could change this afternoon with rain, thunderstorms and possible hail, according to the National Weather Service.
Rhode Island is at the center of the risk area, the weather service said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook early Wednesday.
"A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon with large hail and/or damaging wind gusts," the weather service said.

The greatest risk is across Connecticut and Rhode Island along with areas of Massachusetts south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. The risk diminishes as one travels north.
The weather service indicates that the threat of storms is likely, mainly after 3 p.m.

Wind gusts could reach upwards of 23 mph.
