Woman Holding Baby Allegedly Tries to Save Man from Arrest

The following arrests were reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Maceo Moreino, 23, of 34 Park Holm was arrested Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. on charges of disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer in the execution of duty and resisting arrest. Police were driving on Dr Marcus Wheatland Blvd and noticed Moreino was parked illegally.

When police told him he couldn’t park in the spot, he allegedly responded, “why can’t I park it here, it’s my [expletive] car.”  He yelled and refused to move his car or give officers his license, said police.

Police said two women yelled at him to “shut up” and “calm down.” Moreino went into traffic and continued yelling, said police. As the officer tried to put him in handcuffs, a woman holding a baby allegedly pulled on the officer's arm to prevent his arrest. The officer yelled at the woman to step back, but she kept slapping the officer's arm and Moreino kept yelling and physically resisting the officer, said police.
