Armed Forces Salute, Independence Day highlight Lafayette Band season
This Sunday, May 18, the tribute to veterans leads off the schedule of 10 concerts, including the celebration of America set for July 3
This Sunday, May 18, the Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will kick off its spring/summer schedule with its annual Armed Forces Salute concert, a tribute to military veterans. The slate of 10 performances also includes the traditional North Kingstown Independence Day celebration, set for Thursday, July 3. All Lafayette Band performances are free, and all ages are welcome.
The Armed Forces Salute honors past and present members of all branches of the U.S. military. Music Director Charles Johnson will conduct a program of patriotic favorites, big band music and more. All veterans and family members in attendance will be recognized. The concert begins at 2 p.m. at St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown.
The Independence Day program will include the band’s traditional concert from 7-9 p.m. followed by a professional fireworks display after dark over Wickford Harbor.

Other performances on the schedule include joint appearances with associated musical groups, an ice cream social event, and a concert at the town library. The Lafayette Band’s full schedule for spring/summer 2025 is listed below.
