Get in the Spirit with the Lafayette Band

Free holiday concert December 1 in Wickford -- live music and a Christmas carol sing-along, too

As part of the annual Wickford Festival of Lights, the Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will perform its Holiday Concert at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, December 1, in the First Baptist Church, 44 Main St., Wickford. Music Director Chuck Johnson will conduct a festive program of traditional and popular holiday music enjoyed by people of all ages.

The playlist will include tunes such as "Fantasia for Christmas," based on the Ukrainian Bell Carol; music from classic stories such as "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas"; a Hanukkah Festival medley; and a sing-along of Christmas carols led by vocalist Richard Johnson.

Admission is free. Patrons are advised to arrive early, as seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Lafayette Band is a nonprofit community concert band with a mission to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music. Founded 140 years ago, it is one of the oldest bands in Rhode Island. Though based in North Kingstown, the band's members reside in many communities in Southeast New England.
