Lafayette Band Armed Forces Salute to honor veterans on May 19

Free concert at St. Bernard Church in North Kingstown also supports the VA

To honor past and present members of the U.S. military, the Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will perform its annual Armed Forces Salute concert on Sunday, May 19, 2:00 p.m., at St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Music Director Charles Johnson will lead the band in a program of patriotic favorites, big band and swing music, and tunes from Broadway and Hollywood.

All veterans and their family members in attendance will be recognized with their service branches. Admission is free and all ages are welcomed. Voluntary donations at the door will be appreciated and shared between the Providence VA Medical Center Voluntary Services Office, to aid veterans in need, and the band's free community concert program. Over the past 11 years, the Armed Forces Salute has generated more than $5500 of contributions to the VA.

The Lafayette Band is a nonprofit community concert band with a mission to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music. Founded 140 years ago, it is one of the oldest bands in Rhode Island. Though based in North Kingstown, the band's members reside in many communities in Southeast New England.
