Lafayette Band Opens Summer Series in Newport, North Kingstown

Nine free concerts are scheduled, the majority at the North Kingstown band shell at the Town Beach, including the fireworks night on July 3

The Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will launch its 2024 summer concert series with two performances in June:

The band will play patriotic and popular music, show tunes, marches and more, conducted by Music Director Charles Johnson. Admission is free for all Lafayette Band concerts. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

The Lafayette Band is a nonprofit community concert band with a mission to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music. Founded more than 140 years ago, it is one of the oldest bands in Rhode Island. Though based in North Kingstown, the band’s members reside in many communities in Southeast New England.
