Lafayette Band Opens Summer June 14 at NK Library -- Time Change: 6 pm

The first of eight free concerts featuring popular music, show tunes, marches and more. As of 6/13/23, start time has been changed to 6 pm.

The Lafayette Band of North Kingstown will open its 2023 summer concert series on Wednesday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Kingstown Free Library, 100 Boone St. Music Director Charles Johnson will conduct a program of patriotic and popular music, show tunes, marches and more.

Admission is free. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. In the event of inclement weather, the band will play inside the library building. The Lafayette Band is a nonprofit community concert band with a mission to strengthen North Kingstown and surrounding communities through music. Founded 140 years ago, it is one of the oldest bands in Rhode Island. Though based in North Kingstown, the band’s members reside in many communities in Southeast New England.
