NK Robotics Team Needs Lift to Get to Regionals

The North Kingstown High School Robotics Club could get a shot at the world championship in April, but they need some resources first.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—Members of the robotics club at North Kingstown High School got back into the game this year.

They hadn’t competed since 2008, but that didn’t stop them from finding immediate success.

Now, the team has earned a spot at the Super-Regional Competition this March in Scranton, PA.

“Our hope for the future is to compete at this competition and qualify for the World championship in April in St. Louis.” said Alex Hinde, a senior and member of the club.

The only problem is that competing at this level takes resources as well as talent and determination. The club needs help raising money to pay for T-shirts, gear to promote the team and materials to build the robot. Not to mention there’s the team registration at the competitions.

As a result, the team has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise $5,000. So far, 18 people as of Tuesday morning had donated $1,270.
