Nobody Hurt in Old Baptist Road Fire

The fire appears to have started in a chimney.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—Nobody was hurt after a fire swept through an Old Baptist Road house Monday night.

Firefighters were dispatched at around 8:15 p.m. for a report of fire at 11 Old Baptist Road and crews arrived to find fire in the attic and smoke billowing out of the windows.

The fire was under control in about 30 minutes and firefighters said the cause appears to have been accidental.

The fire, which is under investigation, appears to have started in a chimney. The house reportedly was being heated with a wood-burning stove.

The homeowner got out safely, firefighters said.
