Michael Curry Scully, 58, died on June 1, surrounded by his wonderful family. He left us way before his time, and his many future plans will remain unfulfilled. Mike loved his life, his family, and his many friends.Â
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Joanne Fleck Scully, his son Matthew Scully, daughter Erin Scully and her fiancé Jeffery Baker, and his youngest daughter Megan Curry Scully.Â
Mike was born 5/25/55 to the late William and Margery Curry Scully and grew up in Clinton, Conn. He was lucky enough to have three brothers and two sisters, all older and wiser. Bill, Bob, Kathy, Peter and Jane ... Scullys all ... he was the baby of the family and a joy to each of them!
Mike graduated from The Morgan School in Clinton, Conn., entered the U.S. Navy and then went on to receive degrees from UConn and URI.
He began his career in law enforcement, following in the footsteps of his father and oldest brother as a police officer, in his hometown of Clinton. There, he was legendary for his not-so politically correct cartoons about office life. He then decided to try for the next step ... the FBI. He was accepted and off he went to Quantico, Va., for training. He was assigned to Providence, R.I., as a Special Agent. The FBI took him all over the world as a teacher and an investigator.

As an integral member of the Boston Evidence Response Team, he traveled to Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. His Special Agent brothers who traveled with him have told grand stories. For those of you who remember the X-Files, he was the real Agent Scully. In the United States, he worked on many events including Operation Buck Swap, the Atlanta and Salt Lake City Olympics, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, TWA 800 disaster, the loss of Egypt Air Flight 990 off the coast of Rhode Island, and the Boston investigations after 9/11.
Mike loved the Miami Dolphins and the Boston Red Sox, his Irish heritage, scuba diving, swimming in Narragansett Bay, Long Island Sound, and off the coast of Florida, playing golf, chowda, running, teaching Terrorism 101 at Salve Regina University, and his many, many friends and family...but he especially cherished life, his wife, his kids, his cats, and his home. He will be remembered forever in the hearts of those of us lucky enough to have known him. "Beannacht Dé leat."Â
His funeral will be held Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. from the FAGAN-QUINN Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield.
