NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Hurricane Idalia killed four people and caused significant damage to thousands of homes and businesses in Florida and Georgia last month. So a Rhode Island Ocean retailer is taking action to help with the disaster relief.

Ocean State Job Lot recently donated more than $1 million worth of essential supplies to help those impacted by the storm.

The North Kingstown-based company partnered with its customers to donate essential goods, including clothing, shoes, gloves, and sanitizing wipes. A company spokesperson said the items will be shipped to Florida and Georgia. Three tractor-trailers filled with essential items have already left Ocean State Job Lot's distribution center with additional trucks planned to depart within the next few weeks.
