Police Log: DUI Suspect Blows More Than Three Times Legal Limit

A North Kingstown man is facing charges of driving under the influence following a traffic stop Jan. 31.
Steven W. Taylor, 36, of 25 Terre Mar Drive was stopped at 11:22 p.m. at the intersection of West Main Road and Post Road on suspicion of drunken driving. Police noted that Taylor had bloodshot and water eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol. He had difficulty getting out of his car and maintaining balance during hi field sobriety test, which he reportedly failed.
During a preliminary breath test, Taylor’s blood alcohol allegedly measured at .212 – more than double the legal limit of .08. While searching his car, police allegedly found more than a gram of marijuana, resulting in a citation for possession.

At the North Kingstown Police Department, Taylor agreed to take a Breathalyzer test. His results were .244 – more than triple the limit.
