See 2024's Most Borrowed Books From The North Kingstown Free Library

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — With 2024 over, it's time to reflect on the year. You've probably already seen some lists for the top books of the year. Patch however is offering its own local twist on the end of the year tradition because honestly, who knows you better than your neighbors?

We reached out to the North Kingstown Free Library and found out what people were borrowing to read in 2024. Check out the lists for the top books below:

1. "The Women" by Kristin Hannah
2. "North Woods" by Daniel Mason
3. "A Calamity of Souls" by David Baldacci
4. "The Heaven & Earth Grocery Story" by James McBride
5. "The Teacher" by Frieda McFadden
6. "In the Time of Butterflies" by Julia Alvarez
7. "The Paris Architect" by Charles Belfoure
8. "Sandwich" by Catherine Newman
9. "West with Giraffes" by Lynda Rutledge
10. "The Housemaid" by Frieda McFadden.

And here are the top 10 most borrowed books from all Rhode Island libraries and how many times they were checked out, according to Ocean State Libraries:

1. "The Women" by Kristin Hannah, 2,597
2. "The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store" by James McBride, 1,327
3. "Swan Song" by Elin Hilderbrand, 1,037
4. "Lessons in Chemistry" by Bonnie Garmus, 1,003
5. "The Frozen River" by Ariel Lawhon, 995
6. "Tom Lake" by Ann Patchett, 984
7. "First Lie Wins" by Ashley Elston, 946
8. "The Teacher" by Frieda McFadden, 912
9. "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt, 909
10. "Funny Story" by Emily Henry, 887.
