North Smithfield Man Caught With 15 'Ghost Guns' After Letting People Shoot Him: AG

Elliot Knorr was caught with 23 guns and 40 large capacity magazines after letting someone shoot him near a public park, prosecutors say.

NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI — A North Smithfield man was caught with 23 guns, 15 of which were "ghost guns" without a serial number and dozens of large capacity magazines, Attorney General Peter Neronha said Thursday.

On July 3, Elliot Knorr, 43, was charged with 15 counts of possession of a ghost gun, two counts of possession of large capacity feeding devices, one count of firing in a compact area, and one count of conspiracy to fire in a compact area.

In March, Rhode Island State Police identified Knorr as a suspect in an incident where a gun was fired in the vicinity of a public park in North Smithfield, prosecutors said. On March 29, state police searched Knorr's home and seized 23 guns, including 15 ghost guns, ghost gun jigs and manufacturing tools, 40 large capacity magazines, additional non-large capacity magazines, and significant amounts of various calibers of ammunition, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said state police also took Knorr's phone and discovered video of the shooting incident. According to prosecutors, the video showed Knorr being shot in his backyard, which abuts Pacheco Park in North Smithfield, with two bystanders nearby in the line of fire.

Knorr later told investigators he was voluntarily shot with "rubber buck shot," prosecutors said.
