46 Dogs Rescued From Pawtucket Home Available For Adoption
The dogs were rescued from a home in the 100 block of Senate Street on April 8 after Pawtucket Animal Control received a hoarding complaint.

PAWTUCKET, RI — Just over a week after 46 dogs were removed from a hoarding situation in Pawtucket, the pups are ready to find their new homes, the Pawtucket Police Department said Tuesday.
The dogs were rescued from a home in the 100 block of Senate Street on April 8 after Pawtucket Animal Control received an anonymous complaint of animal hoarding, authorities said.

With the help of Central Falls Animal Control and the RISPCA, the dogs were first taken to Pawtucket Animal Shelter. From there, several local animal welfare organizations volunteered to take custody of many of the dogs, incurring the costs of medically treating, grooming, and spaying or neutering the animals.

The dogs' fur was matted and "bodies ravaged by neglect," with some requiring complete shaving that revealed open wounds and sores, according to the Potter League for Animals, one of the organizations that assisted with the dogs' care following their seizure.
They have all since been medically cleared and vaccinated, and their care has been supported by "significant donations of food, supplies, and equipment" by the community and charitable organizations, according to authorities.

Most of the dogs will be available for adoption soon, and the Pawtucket Animal Shelter is already seeking applicants.

"These dogs have endured unimaginable suffering, but we can give them a second chance at life filled with love and comfort with your support," the Potter League for Animals said.
