Free COVID Testing In Pawtucket Saturday At Baldwin School
Testing is still important, said Mayor Don Grebien. People who attend the clinic can also get help registering for a vaccine.

PAWTUCKET, RI — Pawtucket residents are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 this Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Elizabeth Baldwin Elementary School.
The April 10 coronavirus testing event at 50 Whitman Street will conducted free of charge. Flyers in multiple languages are being distributed in the neighborhoods. In addition to testing, the city will distribute masks, provide COVID-19 information, and help people register for vaccination clinics.
“We want to encourage residents to continue getting tested and want to make sure we take the opportunity to encourage them to get vaccinated as well,” said Pawtucket Health and Equity Leader Elizabeth Moreira.

In a release, Mayor Donald R. Grebien said COVID-19 testing is still important, especially as people return to normal life. Pawtucket, a densely-populated city, has seen high infection rates.
“Our residents are going back to or are already back at work, and we want to make sure that we continue to inform the public about the importance of testing in order to minimize the spread as much as possible since there is such an emphasis on vaccination right now,” Grebien said.
“Getting tested is fast, easy, and free,” said Sean Todd, sales manager for New England AccuReference Medical Lab. “We encourage people to come by and find out their status to keep making sure our loved ones are safe. All information is confidential, and you will get results in just minutes.”

The city has partnered with the R.I. Department of Health and the local branch of AccuReference Medical Lab to conduct the pop-up testing site. AccuReference is the provider that started testing at McCoy Stadium back in November.
Moving forward, the city anticipates having Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses available at upcoming vaccination clinics. Residents are advised to visit www.PawtucketRI.com/Covid19 to check out available clinics. People should fill out the Request for Information form to be notified when clinics become available. The website is updated seven days a week.
