1. It's almost summertime and that means lots of hours spent swimming! The Pawtucket Parks and Recreation Division is currently looking for candidates to be lifeguards at the Veteran's Park Pool from July 2 - Aug. 21. This position requires certification and special training in First Aid, CPR, and Lifesaving (non-surf is acceptable) which must be maintained throughout the season as a condition of employment. Lifeguard applicants must possess current training cards or training certificates at the time of appointment. Apply now! (City Of Pawtucket)
2. Reportedly, Providence Police issued the following statement on Friday evening, "Please be advised that Christopher James, age 34, who was arrested by Providence Police earlier today for a Breaking and Entering that occurred on Pembroke Avenue last night [Thursday] is not a suspect at this time in the recent incidents of sexual assault within the Elmhurst neighborhood.
   Police continue to urge residents in the area to have a heightened awareness of their surroundings and alert police immediately at 272-3121 with information pertinent to this ongoing investigation in regard to a serial rapists. (GoLocalProv)
3. Did you know the Kentucky Derby Trophy was made right here in Rhode Island? The coveted solid gold cup was made at S.R. Blackinton in Smithfield owned by Susanne Blackinton-Juaire and her husband Bill Juaire. Susanne's family has been creating the trophy since 1975. This year marks a special event for Susan and Bill as it was the first time ever that the S.R. Blackinton name was engraved onto the bottom of the Derby trophy. (RI Monthly)
