McCoy Stadium To Host Wednesday Evening Walk-Up Vax Clinics

The 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. schedule offers an easy for people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, said Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien.

PAWTUCKET, RI — If you’re not vaccinated against COVID-19, you can easily get your shot on any upcoming Wednesday evening at McCoy stadium.

The City of Pawtucket is partnering with the Rhode Island National Guard and the Medical Reserve Corps Disaster Medical Assistance Team to run the free walk-up, drive-up clinics, with no appointment needed.

“McCoy is a great location for this sort of endeavor, and we are excited to partner with the National Guard and DMAT,” stated Mayor Donald Grebien.

“We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to get a vaccine,” said Public Health and Equity Leader Elizabeth Moreira.

This program will run on Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting May 12.

“Events like the one we’re hosting at McCoy attempt to break down all barriers hindering people from getting their vaccine and we want to make getting inoculated as convenient as possible,” said Rhode Island National Guard Lieutenant Col. Brendan Carroll.

“We need everyone to do their part and get vaccinated so that we can stop the spread of this disease," said reserve corp executive officer Brooke Lawrence.

McCoy will still be used for COVID-19 testing by AccuReference Medical Lab.

Appointments can be made at www.vaccinateri.org. However walk-ins are welcome and encouraged.
