Pawtucket Delivers The COVID Shot To Homebound Residents

A new initiative links Med Tech Ambulance Service with city and state resources to deliver the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to the homebound.

PAWTUCKET — Roughly 50 homebound Pawtucket residents have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 and many more are in the pipeline through a new outreach initiative that links city and state resources with an ambulance company.

Mayor Donald Grebien today thanked Rhode Island officials and Med Tech Ambulance Service for helping to get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine into the arms of the elderly and others who can’t leave their homes for medical reasons.

“Our goal is to get every resident of our city vaccinated and, through this initiative, we will able to be one step closer to achieving that goal,” Grebien said.

Gary Reis, president and CEO of Med Tech Ambulance Service, said his company is happy to be part of the effort. “We want to thank everyone in Rhode Island that is working hard every day to make a difference during this difficult situation,” he said.

“This program helps us get to the residents who can’t come to any of those other clinics and fills an important need in our community,” said Pawtucket health and equity leader Elizabeth Moreira.
