Friday's district court hearing concerned the March 12 and Nov. 26 state police incidents. Appearing before Administrative Judge Elaine T. Bucci, Lopes pleaded not guilty to eluding law enforcement in a high-speed pursuit and obstructing an officer, charges connected with the November traffic stop. A pre-trial hearing was set for May 18. Additional charges were added in connection with the March 12 Pawtucket traffic stop. In that case, he's due back in court April 14th.

State Police and Pawtucket Police have policies that limit the use of high-speed chases, so did not pursue Lopes at the time. Officers gained arrest warrants, Pawtucket Det. Sgt. Christoper LeFort told Patch. Lopes was eventually arrested Dec. 26 after he was involved in a three-vehicle crash in Pawtucket. On Dec. 27, Lopes was released by a bail commissioner on $1,000 bond, and those conditions remain in place.
Lopes' interactions with the Pawtucket Police Department will be dealt with separately, court records show. On March 8, Lopes allegedly fled from Pawtucket police following a traffic stop. He's due to be arraigned on a charge of "reckless driving and other offenses against public safety" on June 3.
Back on July 26, 2020, Lopes allegedly sped away from Pawtucket police on a motorcycle after they tried to detain him near Casey & Sons Auto at 566 Main St. Police say Lopes was disobeying traffic laws and operating without a license plate. He allegedly refused to stop for officers. Lopes is due to be arraigned on a reckless driving charge on April 4.
