Pistol-Packing Pawtucket Ex-Con Picked Up: Cops

The Pawtucket man was arrested on a federal warrant charging him with gun and drug offenses.

PAWTUCKET, RI — A Pawtucket man wanted on a federal warrant was apprehended Monday, police said.

Robert Fonseca, 53, was indicted May 14 on charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug crime and possession of ammunition by a felon.

Fonseca committed the crimes in Swansea and Fall River, Massachusetts, in June 2024, according to the indictment, and was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The weapon Fonseca possessed while intending to distribute cocaine was a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol, according to the indictment, which said Fonseca was previously convicted of a felony.

Fonseca was arrested by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

"Mr. Fonseca was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Boston Federal Courthouse," the release said.
