RI Woman Accused Of Abusing Child, Kicking Officers During Arrest

Prosecutors say Yaritza Acevedo, 35, of Pawtucket abused a child in 2023 and assaulted police officers during the arrest.

PAWTUCKET, RI — A Pawtucket woman was arrested after she abused a child and assaulted police officers, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said Tuesday.

Prosecutors said Yaritza Acevedo, 35, was arrested by Pawtucket police on June 26, 2023. On March 19, she was charged in Providence County Superior Court with second-degree child abuse, two counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

According to prosecutors, Pawtucket police responded to a report of child abuse and arrested Acevedo after determining there was probable cause. During the arrest, Acevedo kicked the officers before she was forced into the cruiser, prosecutors said.
