Wheel Hits Car On I-95 in Pawtucket; Woman Critically Injured

PAWTUCKET — A woman in her 20s is in critical condition after a serious crash on I-95 Sunday afternoon.

State police say a northbound pickup truck lost its left rear wheel. The wheel and tire bounced across the highway into the southbound lane and struck the windshield of an oncoming vehicle. The vehicle lost control and struck a highway barrier. The operator of the vehicle was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

It happened around 3 p.m. on Route 95 near exit 27.
