  1. A 29-year-old Pawtucket woman has been diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. She's being treated at Lifespan Cancer Institute in Providence. (WJAR)
  2. A Central Falls man who walks to work just won $50,000 with a scratch ticket. He says he plans to buy a car.
  3. Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt has been sued by the ACLU for blocking two constituents on Facebook. The two men say the First Amendment prevents her from blocking people simply because she disagrees with them, and that her page amounts to a "digital town hall." City attorney John DeSimone argues that @LISABALDELLIHUNT is the mayor's personal page. (AP).
  4. The Providence City Council plans an emergency meeting to deal with violent crime in the city. Meanwhile, Governor Dan McKee has asked Rhode Island State Police to help city police. The police force in Providence has shrunk to its lowest staffing level in 50 years, according to GoLocalProv. And because it's an election year, mayoral candidate Brett Smiley is weighing in on the topic.
  5. Looking for a job? Sturdy Hospital in nearby Attleboro is looking to fill nearly 180 positions. Sturdy will host a job fair Aug. 17 in its auditorium. (The Sun Chronicle)
