6 Injured After Crash Involving Work Van And Car In Portsmouth

Ladders from the work van went through the car's windshield during the crash, Portsmouth fire officials say.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Six people were injured in a crash on Wednesday involving a work van and a car.

Fire officials said the crash happened at the intersection of East Main Road and Boyd's lane. Callers told dispatch several people were injured and ladders went through the windshield of a car. Fire officials said both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

Because of the number of injured people, Tiverton and Bristol's fire departments provided mutual aid by sending ambulances to the crash scene. Fire officials said two people were taken to local hospitals, while the others were treated on the scene.
