Diver's Boat Ran Away: Off Prudence Island

Portsmouth Fire said the diver has been found and evaluated for medical issues and appears to be okay.

PORTSMOUTH, RI— The Marine Task Force was activated Monday for a report about a diver in distress. According to the Portsmouth Fire Department, the diver was located. He was evaluated for medical problems. He appears to be okay, and did not need to be taken to a hospital.

Coast Guard Petty Ofc. Sean McGinnis said per Castle Hill Station Newport, the story is this: The diver was in the water when he noticed his boat was floating away. He swam after it. Someone saw him and called emergency. Portsmouth Fire responded, plucked the diver out of the water and retrieved the boat.
