Driver Injured After Car Crashes Into Utility Pole In Portsmouth
The crash was so loud, residents living two miles away could hear it, Portsmouth fire officials say.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — One person was hospitalized Sunday after they crashed their car into a utility pole in Portsmouth, according to town fire officials.
Portsmouth fire officials said the crash happened around 3 a.m. on East Main Road near Sequoia Lane. The crash was so loud, residents who lived two miles away heard the crash, fire officials said.
Following the crash, the driver was trapped inside the car. Fire officials said crews used hydraulic tools to extricate the crash victim, before rushing them to the trauma center at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Middletown firefighters provided mutual aid at the scene of the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
