Extreme Heat: Cooling Centers Open In Portsmouth

Here's where to cool off in Portsmouth.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Rhode Island is in the midst of a heat wave, with feel-like temperatures in the triple digits and high humidity. A heat advisory is in place across the state, and an air quality alert was issued for Washington and Newport Counties Monday.

In Portsmouth, residents can go to the Multi-Purpose Senior Center at 110 Bristol Ferry Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, to cool off.
