Father, Son Allegedly Steal Handguns, $25K in Jewelry

The following is based on reports from the Portsmouth Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A father and son were arrested recently after allegedly stealing handguns and $25,000 worth of jewelry from a Portsmouth residence.

David Welch, 41, of Bristol, and his son, Justin Welch, of Middletown, are both being charged with breaking and entering, and larceny.

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Dec. 26 on Mitchell's Lane. Portsmouth police say thieves broke into the home and stole jewelry and firearms. More than $25,000 in jewelry was reportedly stolen from the residence.
