Minor Injuries After College Shuttle Bus Crash in Portsmouth

Portsmouth firefighters responded to a crash involving a Roger Williams University shuttle and a second vehicle Tuesday night.

PORTSMOUTH, RI—A 19-year-old female Roger Williams University student was transported to Newport Hospital for precautionary reasons after the shuttle bus she was riding in was involved in a motor vehicle accident Tuesday night.

Portsmouth Fire Department Deputy Chief MIchael P. O’Brien said that firefighters were dispatched at around 10:08 p.m. for a report that a shuttle bus was involved in an accident with a second vehicle at Boyd’s Lane and Anthony Road.

Crews arrived about six minutes later and found the bus with heavy damage. It had been pushed into a guardrail, O’Brien said, and it had also collided with a utility pole support cable.
