Police Log: Man Arrested After Throwing Christmas Tree
The following is based on reports from the Portsmouth Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Portsmouth police made the following arrests in the past week.Â
Man allegedly throws out Christmas tree during fightÂ
Nathaniel Carleton, 25, of 52 Maniton Drive, was arrested on Dec. 16 at 8:45 a.m. after becoming involved in an argument with a 24-year-old Portsmouth woman.Â

During the argument, Carleton allegedly threw the Christmas on the front porch. He then allegedly head-butted the woman and slapped her across the face.Â
Carleton was arrested and charged with domestic, simple assault.Â

Man allegedly making harassing phone callsÂ
Jason Gustafson, 31, of North Providence, was arrested on Dec. 16 at midnight by North Providence police. Gustafson was wanted on charges in Portsmouth.Â
Gustafson allegedly became involved in an argument with a 27-year-old Portsmouth woman on Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m. Gustafson was asked to leave a Donna Drive residence, but allegedly refused to leave.Â
On Dec. 14, Gustafson allegedly made harassing phone calls to the 27-year-old after being asked to stop calling.Â
Gustafson was charged with domestic, willful trespass; and, domestic, making harassing phone calls.Â
Man allegedly breaks into woman's garageÂ
David Silvia, 57, of Exeter, was arrested on Dec. 14 at 11:45 p.m. after allegedly breaking into a woman's garage.Â
Police were called to a McCorrie Lane home after a 52-year-old Portsmouth woman apparently heard her garage door being opened.
Police allegedly saw Silvia driving a vehicle by the residence. An existing no-contact order was in place against Silvia.Â
Officers stopped the vehicle and say they detected a strong aroma of alcohol. Silvia apparently failed a field sobriety test and, after being transported to the police station, allegedly refused a chemical test.Â
He was charged with domestic, breaking and entering; driving under the influence (DUI); and refusal to submit to a chemical test.Â
Man arrrested on warrantÂ
Neal Rancourt, 47, of 36 Cedar Ave., Portsmouth, was arrested on Dec. 18 at 4 p.m. at his home. Rancourt was wanted on a warrant by Tiverton police.Â
