Portsmouth Schools To Fly Green Flags for Newtown Victims
The Portsmouth School District will honor the victims of Newtown, CT, the first full school week of January.

Portsmouth schools will fly green flags the first, full school week in January to honor , announced Superintendent of Schools Lynn Krizic.Â
Krizic announced the plan during the Portsmouth School Committee meeting on Tuesday night.Â
According to Krizic, green ribbons represent support for both the victims and survivors of the Newtown community. The ribbons were provided to the school committee by parent Christina Craft, a former Newtown, CT, resident.Â

The Portsmouth School Committee also appointed a new principal for Hathaway Elementary School.Â

Suzanne H. Madden has been appointed to the position of Hathaway Elementary school principal, effective Jan. 2.Â
Madden will replace outgoing principal Robert Ettinger. The ad for his replacement was posted less than a month ago.Â
Madden, a graduate of Northeastern University, is the principal of Hayden-McFadden School in New Bedford, MA.Â
