Rhode Island State Police Holding Holiday Toy Drive

Kids, Cops and Christmas has launched for the 2023 holiday season. The toy drive and fundraiser will run until Dec. 18.

RHODE ISLAND — Now that Thanksgiving has passed, it's time to get into the holiday giving spirit, and Rhode Island law enforcement agencies can help you do just that.

Rhode Island State Police, the Rhode Island State Police Museum Foundation, the RI Department of Public Safety, the Rhode Island Troopers Association, the Office of the U.S. Attorney, the Office of the Rhode Island Attorney General and the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association on Friday launched Kids, Cops and Christmas. The toy drive and fundraiser will run from Friday until Dec. 18.

Donations of new, unwrapped, gifts and gift cards with a value of $25 or less are now being accepted. State police said the gifts will be given to children from toddlers through teens.

Donations can be brought to any Rhode Island State Police Barracks, any Cardi’s Furniture and Mattress location, and any Ocean State Job Lot store in Rhode Island. They will also be accepted at “Santa at the Museum,” where children can get photos with Santa from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Rhode Island State Police Museum. Donations of new undergarments, socks, coats, hats, scarves, or mittens in infant to teen sizes will also be accepted.

The Rhode Island State Police Museum Foundation will also collect monetary donations for the Kids, Cops and Christmas fundraiser. Donations can be made online here.

State police said all donations will be distributed to Rhode Island social service organizations, including:

  • Center for Southeast Asians
  • East Bay Community Action Program

  • Mount Hope Neighborhood Association
  • Narragansett Indian Tribe
  • Progreso Latino
  • Wat Lao Buddhovath of Rhode Island
  • Wiggin Village.
