Youth Non-Profit Leader Asked Minor For Sexual Photos: Police

PORTSMOUTH, RI — The head of a youth-focused nonprofit organization is accused of asking a teenager to send lewd photos. Steven Peterson, 26, was charged with indecent solicitation of a child, police said.

Portsmouth police said Peterson was arrested Tuesday and arraigned in Second Division District Court Wednesday morning. He is accused of soliciting the photos from a 15-year-old. No further details were provided.

Peterson was the executive director of Be Great For Nate, an organization that mentors youth in the community. He was immediately terminated from his position following his arrest, the organization told WPRI.
